iMate SP5 is certificate security enabled by default.Which essectially means an application wont be able to call previleaged api's.
One needs to modify 2 registry keys
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies0001001 = change this value to 1,it's 2 by default.This setting specifies the RAPI policy."1" indicates full access to active sync."2" indicates access to user authanticated role (SECROLE_USER_AUTH )
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies0001005 = change this value to 40
This setting indicates whether unsigned cab files can be installed on the device.Default value is 16(SECROLE_USER_AUTH),40 means (SECROLE_USER_UNAUTH)
Reboot the device for the settings to take effect.
The install sdkcerts.cab file from your smartphone sdk (\\Windows CE Tools\wce500\Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone SDK\Tools).To install this cab file copy this file on the device and run it.This would enable you to debug and use remote tools from VisualStudio 2005
If you want to completely unlock the device after making changes in the registry.Check the link (SDA Application Unlock)at the bottom of this post.

For Unlocking iMate SP5m “http://www.spv-developers.com/content/SDA_ApplicationUnlock.zip” excuatable was not a valid application on i-mate sp5m handset.
Remaing all the above steps were successfully completed & was able to unlock it.

SDA_ApplicaionUnlock.zip is supposed to be run in the PC through ActiveSync
When I tried the utility, it gave the message “Phone is not unlockable” and then pressing ok shows presumably a false success message.
When tried directly to modify those values through a utility from breaksoft, it says access is denied!

first download the regedit software, then change the 2 values. then you can use the full unlock software.
Great, it worked! I really was stuck at step 3 of Karhoe’s guide (http://karhoe.net/content/view/21/1/) and this greatly helped..
One question: now that I have upgraded to WM6.1 should I put the registry settings back to the original?

I have a French C600 which is applicaiton locked.
After I install Regedit from the source you mentiond but When I try to run regedit it says
“Access denied. The program cannot start because it is not signed by a trusted certificate”
Anybody know where I can get a C600 regedit or a SuperCID.
